Abstract:
The objective of this study was to know the social and demographical characteristic of the disability in Latin America and verify the methodology guide used in the disabilities questionnaires. It was done a descriptive study that analyzed disabilities questionnaires applied in Latin America after 2001. It was noted that there is a big difference between the surveys that used ICF to collect statistical data of persons with disabilities . It was also shown that in Latin America the disabilities are more prevalent in men, with more than 65 years old and with a low educational level. Motor disabilities are more frequent and are related to chronicle diseases. We could conclude that ICF is a good methodological tool to use in disabilities questionnaires.
