Abstract:

The objective was to analyze the quality of food consumption of one year old children accompanied by a Primary Health Care (PHC) service. This is a cross-sectional study nested in a cohort of children\'s oral health in which data were collectedchildren born in 2013 and followed up for 2 years in Porto Alegre. A questionnaire on maternal variables and frequency of child care consultations, anthropometric measures and child food consumption was applied. For that, a score was generatedthe score created according to the SISVAN (Food and Nutrition Surveillance System). A multivariate model was calculated by Poisson regression with robust variance. The sample consisted of 249 children. We found 30.5% (76) of poor/regular quality of food, whichthe multivariate model was associated with the educational level of the person in charge, being incomplete secondary education (PR = 2.14, 95% CI = (RR = 1.70, 95% CI = 0.81-3.54), as well as not having consulted with a dentist (RP = 2.54, 95% CI = 1, 33-4.84) or consulted until the fourth month of age (PR = 1.94, 95% CI = 1.01-3.72). It is concluded that not consulting with dentist in the first year of life and lower maternal schooling have negative repercussions on infant food quality.
