Abstract:

Introduction: Cervical cancer (CC) is a preventable disease, early detection and good prognosis through control actions, however it is still a public health problem due to high incidence and mortality.
Objective: To investigate the knowledge, attitudes and practices (CAP) of professionals of the Family Health Strategy (ESF) over the control indicated by the Ministry of Health of the CCU and association with sociodemographic and training variables.
Methodology: cross-sectional study, using a self-administered questionnaire, with FHS doctors and nursesthe city of Juiz de Fora, MG, Brazil,April to August 2019, statistically analyzed using the chi-square test and Fisher\'s exact test, significance level 5%.
Results: 93.0% of the professionals participated, most of them were female and had graduated> 20 years. Adequate CAPs were 39.4%, 59.5% and 77.6% in that order. Younger professionals and women had more adequate knowledge and those with more time with graduates had better attitudes and practices.
Conclusion: The study found important CAP inadequacies and consequent limits to CCU control actions. The evaluation contributes in directing health actions to face and eradicate CC, according to the goal of the Ministry of Health.
