Abstract:

Objective: To analyze indicators of use of oral health services in Primary Health Care in Maranhão, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: Ecological time series study whose unit of analysis was Maranhão. The exhibition was the COVID-19 pandemic, dichotomized into pre and pandemic. Census procedures (RPC), calculations by the ratio of the number of preventive procedures (RPP), urgency (RPP) and census procedures of the population of the state, multiplied by one thousand, monthly. Data were collectedthe Health Information System for Primary Care and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics,2015.1 to 2022.2. The analyzes were performed using the autoregressive model, integrated and moving averages with seasonality. Results: There was a growing trend for the three indicators until Jan/2019. The pandemic caused a significant reduction in the RPP (Xreg=-6.55; p-value=0.0008) and in the RPC (Xreg=-4.74; p-value=0.0005), but did not influence the RPU (Xreg =-0.03; p-value=0.12) since the first half of 2020, persisting until the second half of 2022. Conclusion: the COVID-19 pandemic caused a reduction in preventive and curative oral health services in Maranhão.
