Abstract:

This study had as aim to evaluate the adherence to good practices of care for childbirth and birth among physicians, nurses and residents of the obstetrical residency programs of the public hospitals in Distrito Federal (DF). The data were collected through a cross-sectional survey of the type applied to professionals in 11 public hospitals in Distrito Federal,January to March 2015. Instrument with 20 sociodemographic questions and 50 items of the Likert scale type. For statistical analysis, the professionals were in 4 groups (nurses, resident nurses, doctors and resident physicians). The scores of each hospital were also evaluated. The practices based on scientific evidence showed higher scores among the nurses (57.8 ± 12.9). In the organization of the work process, the highest score was among physicians (72 ± 8.5). Already, in the organization of the network of attention to childbirth, the highest score was of resident physicians (56.5 ± 8.5). There was no statistically significant difference between groups. Hospital scores ranged55 to 64, with no statistically significant difference. Most professionals encourage natural childbirth. It has been found necessary to reinforce the actions for greater adherence to good practices of attention to childbirth, both in the organization of the service network and in the attitudes and values of health professionals.
