Abstract:

Two years after the implementation of the Program More Doctors in our country, the study of its viability, specifically related to the expansion of coverage, access and resoluteness in primary health care is made necessary. This research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of care provided in primary health care, the perspective of health professionals, comparing units with and without doctorsthe Program More Doctors. That is a quantitative research using as the data collection the instrument Primary Care Assesment Tool - Brazil, a version for healthcare professionals. It was conducted in all family health units, in a medium-sized municipality, in Paraná state, between November 2015 and February 2016. The subjects were 72 health professionals, 47 allocated to the health strategy units and 25 in these family units containing the medical program already mentioned. The results showed that the scores of the essential (6.93) and general (7.10) attributes obtained values considered oriented to precepts of primary care in both units. However, accessibility (4.17), in both units, and coordination - information system (6.57) in units with the Program More Doctors, have not reached a satisfactory assessment, which suggests the need for changes in the organization of the family health strategy, independently of this program’s implantation.
