Abstract:

The race/color question is challenging in the medical records, although specific politics exists, such as the Comprehensive Health Care National Policy of Negro (PNSIPN). It\'s urgent to integrate the implementation science’s knowledge and public policy. There are few articles about the filling out quality of the race/color question worldwide. Objective: This article’s objective is to describe and to analyze the implementation of data collection of the race/color question in patients records in a renowned university hospital in São Paulo. Methods: It is an exploratory and descriptive study, designed by three multi-level domains of Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR): intervention characteristics, inner setting and individual characteristics. Results: Most of the records of race/color questions are categorized by the interviewer. Knowledge about race/color question records are crucial and impacts directly on the black people\'s health, in the fight against racism and health care disparities. Conclusion: By CFIR we can see the implementation\'s challenge of the race/color self-declaration. Enhancement is needed in the patients’ data records, and there is the demand for supervision in the data collection processes.
