Abstract:

The objective of the study was to associate the analyze the profile of frail with socio demographic profile and cognition elderly and the associated factors of elderly people living in contexts of high social vulnerability registered in a Reference Center for Social Assistance in a city of the interior of São Paulo. Cross–sectional and quantitative study with 48 elderlies. For the data collection used a sociodemographic interview, Edmonton Frail Scale and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. For the analysis was employed Jonckheere-Terpstra test, Spearman\'s correlation and logistic regression (α = 5.0%). Study approved under Number Opinion: 72182CAAE 00867312.8.0000.5504. Of the 48 interviewed, 33.4% were non-fragile, 20.8% were apparently vulnerable and 45.8% were fragile at some level (mild, moderate or severe). The women (OR = 4.64) and the of nonwhite (OR = 3.99) had a greater chance of being fragile. The domains with the greatest influence in the determination of frailty were: cognition, independence and functional performance, general health and mood, although gender (p = 0.0373) and race (p = 0.0284) presented a significant association. It´s noted that considering the frailty profile of the elderly subsidizes the development of specific strategies of care for this segment of the population in a vulnerable area preventing futures complications.
