This study, which is also a pursuit on communicative settings for reflection concerning nursing exercise and practice based on bioethical frameworks, aimed at apprehending how participant nurses interpret the reality of their praxis in face of the observance of justice. The focal-group technique was used for data collection, and the Grounded Theory was utilized for analysis. Three phenomena were identified: conceptualizing the sense of justice; feeling powerless in living with inequities/injustice and moving towards the fights for justice. From the inter-relation of such phenomena, the core category emerged: constructing mechanisms to overcome injustice and inequities which undermine quality in nursing care: newly-graduated nurses’ experience in a public hospital in inner São Paulo state. The focal-group strategy showed to be very adequate in order to reach the intended objectives, and the Grounded Theory enabled the understanding of the movement undertaken by the nurses in this experience.Key words: Nursing; Bioethics; Justice.
