Abstract:

The graduation in Public Health aims to train health professionals with knowledge focused on the promotion, prevention and health systems management. However, in the direction to approach the issues of gender and sexuality there is still an apparent silencing of this debate in the courses. The objective is to understand the presence or not of contents that contemplate aspects of gender and sexuality in this training, using the qualitative analysis, through Documentary Research and Content Analysis, the survey and analysis of the Curricular Pedagogical Projects of undergraduate courses in Public Health in Brazil. A total of 16 projects were analyzedthe 21 existing courses in Brazil. It was verified, mainly, that 12 courses have subjects that discuss gender and sexuality issues during graduation, sometimes compulsorily or optionally. It is concluded that the debate on gender and sexuality occurs in most of the Institutions that have Public Health undergraduation course. However this field of discussions needs to be improved even in the National Curricular Guideline for the Courses of Public Health, which should explain these topics, enabling a formation that overcomes the prejudices, violence and binarism present in a heteronormative and sexism society.
