0047/2023 - Global Iniciative for Childhood Cancer and the Practice of Pediatric Oncology Nursing in Latin America and the Caribbean Iniciativa Global para o Câncer Infantojuvenil e a Prática de Enfermagem Pediátrica Oncológica na América Latina e no Caribe
This article aims to present the Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer and the Practice of Pediatric Oncology Nursing in Latin America and the Caribbean through the technical document “The practice of pediatric oncology nursing in Latin America and the Caribbean” as an integral part of the CureAll Framework: WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer of the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization. Including childhood cancer in the Public Health priority agenda is feasible, effective and sustainable, as it offers an opportunity to catalyze progress in cancer control, to save lives and reduce suffering, and especially, for success in the Noncommunicable Diseases agenda. In addition, investing in children and adolescents, as well as strengthening actions and programs for childhood cancer, are strategic targets for governments with the capacity to save hundreds of thousands of lives each year at a low per capita cost. In addition, to the socioeconomic rationale, cancer in children and adolescents deserves to be highlighted as a matter of equity, human rights and social justice.

Iniciativa Global para o Câncer Infantojuvenil e a Prática de Enfermagem Pediátrica Oncológica na América Latina e no Caribe
Abstract(resumo):
Este artigo tem o objetivo de apresentar a Iniciativa Global para o Câncer Infantojuvenil e a Prática de Enfermagem Pediátrica Oncológica na América Latina e no Caribe por meio do documento técnico “La práctica de la enfermería oncológica pediátrica en América Latina y el Caribe” como parte integrante do CureAll Framework: WHO Global Iniciative for Childhood Cancer da Organização Mundial da Saúde e da Organização Pan-Americana da Saúde. Incluir o câncer infantojuvenil na agenda de prioridades na Saúde Coletiva é viável, eficaz e sustentável, na medida em que oferece uma oportunidade para catalisar o progresso no controle do câncer, para salvar vidas e reduzir o sofrimento, e sobretudo, para o sucesso na agenda das Doenças Criônicas Não Transmissíveis. Em adição, o investimento em crianças e adolescentes bem como o fortalecimento de ações e programas de câncer infantojuvenil são alvos estratégicos para governos com capacidade de salvar centenas de milhares de vidas a cada ano a um baixo custo per capita. Para além da justificativa socioeconômica, o câncer infantojuvenil merece destaque como uma questão de equidade, direitos humanos e justiça social.
