Abstract:

The objective of this study was to identify factors associated with personality hardiness in health professionals working in hospital services that treat critically ill patients. Epidemiological, cross-sectional and analytical study conducted with 469 health professionals. The instrument used was the Hardiness Scale (HS) associated with a questionnaire to investigate sociodemographic, occupational and health conditions. Descriptive and bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square test and multiple model through multiple logistic regression using the Hosmer Lemeshow and PseudoR² test, estimating odds ratios. The classification of total scores in HS showed a preponderance of moderate hardiness (48.4%). The chance of high hardiness among professionals with a regular or bad fantastic lifestyle has been reduced by 74% compared to those considered very good and excellent. It was also increased among professionals who were not on leave, who had high satisfaction for compassion at work, low stress and low burnout. The hardiness personality directly and indirectly influences the health and well-being of health professionals working in hospital services that serve critically ill patients.
