AbstractThe study aims to infer the existence of a continuum between the Health Evaluation and Health Economic Evaluation. It also attempted to highlight intersection points of these forms of assessment. For this, a review was held regarding the theoretical foundations, methods and approaches of both forms of evaluation. It was based on the theoretical model of health evaluation as reported by Hartz et al and health economics assessment approaches reported by Brouwer et al. We concluded that there is a continuum between evaluative research’s theoretical model and the extrawelfarist approach’s for health economics assessment, and between normative theoretical model to health evaluation and the welfarist approaches for health economics assessment. However, the assessment practice is still designed by normative theoretical model and under a welfarist approach.
