Abstract:

The National Policy for Health Promotion (PNPS) defines strategies for building public policies as inter sectoral actions that support the development of healthy cities. Urban planning is set as a tool to improve the quality of life, corroborated with health promotion. Utilizing the studies and cooperation actions carried out by the Urban Research Laboratory (LABINUR / FEC-Unicamp) as a reference, this article describes relevant aspects of PNPS that presents interfaces with the urban planning policies in Brazil. It was identified a growth of interdisciplinary and inter sectoral devices related to PNPS and the respective redrafting through Decree 2,446 / 14, such as: mobility and acc essibility; safe development (sanitation, housing and transport); healthy eating with social inclusion and reduction of poverty (community gardens); body practices and physical activities (gym)the improvement of urban spaces. It can be concluded that social participation and inter sectoral activities are differential aspects for the promotion of healthy cities.
