Abstract:

This study aims to make explicit the collective subject discourse of adult and elderly men about the experience of long COVID. This is a qualitative study, deriveda national multicenter clinical-virtual observatory, involving 92 adult men, observed between 2022 and 2023. Data were processed by IRaMuTeQ Software, analyzed by Collective Subject Discourse, and interpreted based on the socioanthropological perspective of the disease experience. The results pointed out that the experience of long COVID was marked by the prolongation of respiratory symptoms characteristic of COVID-19; manifestation of systemic symptoms in the physical and psychic body, and the involvement of severe clinical complications. It was considered that the experience of the long COVID-19 disease constituted of relational crossings of gender, towards masculinities, the notions of health-disease constructed by men, the imaginaries around the capacity of the disease in the context of vaccination and the systemic character that configured a syndromic set of events understood as sequelae left by the disease, resonating the sense of disability and stigmatization.
