Abstract:

Falling ill with cancer, greatly involves invasive and mutilating treatment, bringing repercussions to the lives of individuals and harking back to an imaginary association with pain, limitations and fear of death, which requires the participation of the family or responsible with the patient during treatment. Attending relatives or responsibles is a very important evaluation issue of care in health institutions, as an integral aspect of the process of humanization of assistance, that requires the training of professionals to identify and meet their needs. Given the above, this study aims to bring out some considerations on the interdisciplinary work of supporting the patient´s family in the Adult Intensive Care Unit of Cancer Hospital I, as an efficient proposal that regards the attending of clinical information, as well as social, medical and psychological guidance.
