Abstract:

Introduction: Quality of life has become an important measure of impact on health. Its evaluation has increased in the general population, related diseases and their risk factors. Objective: To assess the quality of life and the presence of association with risk factors for chronic diseases in urban population of the city of Montes Claros, Minas Gerais. Methods: Population-based cross-sectional study. The sample was calculated considering the prevalence of risk factors of overweight of 30% and corrected for the effect of design of 30%. Cluster sampling of census tracts urban. 17 census tracts were drawn up and 648 residents aged ≥ 18 years were interviewed. The risk factors for chronic diseases not transmissible were verified and the quality of life by SF-36 as well. Results: Some risk factors were associated with worst scores on the SF-36 questionnaire. Conclusion: The presence of some risk factors for chronic diseases has impact on quality of life.
