Abstract:

In order to assess the incompleteness in filing the death certificate (DC) the Regional Health of Pernambuco state a descriptive study was conducted from data on deaths of children under one year residents of the municipalities of Pernambuco, from the System and mortality in the three-year periods 1999-2001 and 2009-2011. The percentage of incompleteness was calculated considering the blank filler / ignored by the fields of Regional Health and rate proportional variation of incompleteness between the two periods. It was observed that the filling did not show a well-defined standard for Regionals, incompleteness reduction occurring for most variables, however, only the variables sex, age and place of occurrence of death reached incompleteness ≤ 5% in the second term of study, considered excellent scores Romero and Cunha. Despite the incompleteness of the decrease related to pregnancy and childbirth and the mother related variables was observed in the second triennium incompleteness between 10 and 20% to score regularly in the triennium 2009-2011. Despite the improvement of the filling in the State, it is necessary to strengthen surveillance and the Committees for Prevention of Child Death qualification for completing the DC.
