Abstract:

Vaccination is considered as one of the more effective public health policies and less cost-effective used in the control and prevention of disease. But it is also one of the most controversial biomedical techniques, making it difficult to avoid an ethical approach especially when vaccination is compulsory throughout the population. Since vaccines are not completely effective and safe there is an ethical conflict between the individual and the collective interest, because children actually carry the burden of vaccination for the benefit of public health when they are affected with serious adverse reactions and which are unrelated to the care of the government. The objective of this article was to demonstrate that the Bioethics is relevant in this discussion to understand and critically analyze these dilemmas by providing convincing arguments to guide the development of biopolitics that consider not only prevention accurately, but also the joint responsibility of all as the foundation for individual and collective protection.
