Abstract:

The present study aims to understand how State Public Security Plans (PSP) incorporate the perspective of violence prevention and intersectoriality, with special attention to the role of the Health sector. Methods: This is a qualitative study that used the techniques of document and content analysis, having as empirical material the PSP implemented or in the formulation stage. 14 PSP were identified. Results: In all, the prevention of violence stemsthe concept of citizen security. The participation of the health sector is not always active, that is,the planning stage. The actions, in most cases, are punctual and assistential. Most plans incorporate the concept of intersectorality. Conclusion: All plans incorporate the concepts of violence prevention, intersectorality and participation of the health sector. However, this incorporation is heterogeneous and insufficient, as the participation of the sectors in the planning phase is not the rule, specific prevention actions are mentioned in a generic way and the health sector also assumes a secondary role, without its experiences and potential are recognized. The importance of new studies to evaluate the implementation of the planned activities and their results is emphasized.
