Abstract:
This is a study on the use of distance learning (EaD, in Portuguese) as a teaching strategy in continuing health education (EPS, in Portuguese), which aimed to identify and analyze the limits and posibilities of using EaD in the EPS. For this, the integrative review was used, in the following databases: EMBASE, LILACS e PUBMED. In this review, was used unsuccessfully the PICO strategy, and, because that, was used only the PI strategy to search for articles. Two categories emergedthe analysis: 1) EaD as strategy of continuing education in health; and 2) EaD as potentiating of training programs in health. It can be noticed that the inclusion of EaD is an innovative, possible and potential strategy for EPS, facilitating the development of learning within or outside the health institution, although is evident the lack of research in the area. The EaD makes possible the creation of reflection spaces of health practices with flexibility of time and low cost and, consequently, professional continuous capacitation. The limitations for the implementation of the programs are related to the time variable, preparation for dealing with the technologies and the importance of the tutor as a facilitator of learning. It concludes that the use of EaD has an important contribution to the development of human resources in health, is in the process of training and/or in the continuous knowledge process.

Abstract(resumo):
Trata-se de um estudo sobre o uso do ensino a distância (EaD) como uma estratégia de ensino na educação permanente em saúde (EPS), que teve como objetivo identificar e analisar os limites e possibilidades do uso da EaD na EPS. Para isso, utilizou-se a revisão integrativa, nas seguintes bases de dados: EMBASE, LILACS e PUBMED. Nesta revisão foi utilizada a estratégia PICO, sem êxito, e deste modo acabou-se por fazer uso apenas da estratégia PI para busca dos artigos. Na análise emergiram duas categorias: 1) EaD como estratégia de educação permanente em saúde e; 2) EaD como potencializadora dos programas de capacitação em saúde. Pode-se perceber que a inserção da EaD é de fato uma estratégia inovadora possível e potencial para a EPS, facilitando o desenvolvimento da aprendizagem dentro ou fora da instituição de saúde, porém é evidente a escassez de pesquisas na área. A EaD possibilita a criação de espaços de reflexão das práticas de saúde com flexibilidade de tempo e baixo custo e, consequentemente, capacitação contínua profissional. As limitações para a realização dos programas estão relacionadas à variável tempo, preparação para lidar com as tecnologias e importância do tutor como facilitador da aprendizagem. Conclui-se que o uso da EaD tem tido uma importante contribuição para o desenvolvimento dos recursos humanos em saúde, seja no processo de formação e/ou no processo contínuo de conhecimento.
