Abstract:

Mental health problems have great international sanitary relevance. From a multifactorial nature, these health conditions considered here as suffering are influenced by social elements such as the construction of masculinity, at which the evident increasing criticisms and struggles against male sexism have a weight. Given this scenario, the article addresses male mental suffering and its care, based on a literature review, according to BVS research and considering the period2010 to 2020. From the research 22 articles were ed. The results of the study were organized into these categories: Characteristics / Particularities of men\'s mental suffering; Access / Help seeking behaviormen in distress and approach / Care of men in mental distress. It is concluded that there is a need for more visibility for the relationship between masculinity and suffering to their specificities, considering the need and the right of men (as people) for a care, as well as the contribution, even if it is in an indirect way, to the approach of men\'s suffering against male sexism.
