Abstract:

Objective: To identify the relationship between material deprivation and mortalitybreast, cervical and prostate neoplasms, in the Brazilian adult population, and the relationship between race/color and material deprivation.
Methodology: Cross-sectional ecological study, the average mortality rate/100,000 inhabitants was calculated, with deaths standardized by age and sex and redistributed according to ill-defined causes, stratified by age group and race/color. The Negative Binomial model was applied, containing the interaction between race/color and the Brazilian Deprivation Index (IBP).
Results: 85,903 deaths were analyzed, the most prevalent being those due to breast neoplasms. The risk of deathcervical cancer was 8.5% higher for black women than for white women, in other places mortality was higher among white people. For all causes, with increasing age, there was an increase in mortality. There was a significant interaction between race/color and PPI for all causes, only deaths due to cervical neoplasia increased with the increase in PPI, in the others there was a reduction, but less significant among black people.
Conclusion: The IBP offers a multidimensional view of the socioeconomic conditions of the Brazilian population, allowing a better understanding of how social determinants operate on ed neoplasms.
