Abstract:

This article is a bibliographic review about the Matrix support in mental health. The inquiry was made by searching the Virtual Health Library data basis – LILACS and SciELO – and Google Scholar using the keywords: “matrix support in mental health”. 14 articles were found with the desired characteristics, a restrict number of publications is pointed out. The articles were analyzed for structural and methodological part, we emphasize that the absolute predominance of the use of qualitative methods and health professionals as the target population of research. Then, these same articles were analyzed for their theoretical discussions. It is emphasized, among other issues, the importance of matrix support for the enhanced the teams of primary health care to people in distress. However, there are still many misunderstandings regarding the proposal of the matrix support and shared responsibilities between teams of references and mental health professionals, which shows the need for training of these professionals, as well as better coordination.
