Abstract:

In Medicine it is key \"to offer 100% of what is needed and avoid 100% of what is not needed.\" Unfortunately, this key issue is difficult to meet and generally more is offered than is required and everything that is not required is not avoided. This text reviews the general problem in primary care and suggests ways to avoid excesses with regard to preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation interventions. Knowing not to do is science and art that is taught little and practiced less. The excesses that harm are an almost daily part of clinical practice, in prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. It is essential to promote \"the art and science of not doing\".

Keywords:
