Abstract:

The National Pharmaceutical Policy (PNAF) observes regional priorities. In the Amazon, social and geographical accessibility indicators are essential for access and health equity. The organization of Pharmaceutical Service in 18 municipalities in the interior of Amazonas was analyzed. Social, demographic and structural indicators were described. Accessibility of Medicine Units (UAM), Accessibility of Medicine Support Units (PAAM) and pharmacists were identified. Coverage factors related to Health Centers, territory and population and pharmacists per UAM and inhabitant were calculated, corroborated by selected statements. Access to the capital city and the most distant village was analyzed. There was at least 1 UAM in each municipality. 74% of the establishments had medicine. It varied between concentrated and decentralized municipalities, which, when integrated with other structures, increased medicine accessibility. The 91 PAAMs are a strategy to increase accessibility, especially in remote areas that lack structure. The workforce is diverse, with at least 1 pharmacist. The synergy between Primary Health Care and Pharmaceutical Care proved to be essential. The principles and strategic axes of the PNAF were evident in the municipalities.
