Abstract:

This study analyzed 54 brazilian texts about men and violence related to research activities and intervention. First, the material concerning the subjects in relation to the main focus and type of text was characterized. After analyses and syntheses of chief considerations of texts from the focal points were carried out: different inteligibilities of the problematic, magnitude of conjugal violence, men senses related to violence, interventions and/or policies concerning agressors. The analysis had as parameter the domestic and international debate pledged to overcome the controversial status connected to the definition of the problem as “gender violence” or conjugal violence” creating, mostly, the conjecture of various styles of violent connubial relationship. It was concluded that the major premise of studies is to think the disputation as relational gender issue. Finally, it was defended that the choice of the best articulate approach between the pole of the controversy should be more investigated through qualitative methodology research enclosing actors from different classes and social backgrounds. More investments are required for interventions in the greatest set of alternatives in order to value the peculiarity of events.
