Abstract:

The study by Iglesias and Avellar, published in the last issue of the journal, is a reflection on the matrix support in mental health developed in the Unified Health System (known by the Portu¬guese acronym SUS), mainly in the Psychosocial Care Centers (known by the Portu¬guese acronym CAPS), the mental disorders or psychic suffering, and this reception tends to occur in a multidisciplinary way. The study also discusses the importance of communication between Health Units and CAPS, which depends very much on public management that encourages this practice. In recent years, the SUS has had several advances based on laws and regulations, especially in mental health care, but despite the advances, in practice, this situation is not always developed in the best way, considering the costs and cuts in funding in public health Brazilian. In addition, care for the patient\'s mental health is effective, when this is done it is carried out in a multidisciplinary way, which is still a challenge, since among the multidisciplinary teams, there is a certain hierarchy in the decision making, differentiation in the recognition and valorization of the different health professionals, which makes it a problematic scenario of public management, and that impacts on public health.
