Abstract:

The Primary Health Care is internationally known to be responsible for most of the community’s health problems, including mental health. Objective: To evaluate the links between the primary care and mental health in places of high social vulnerability in a large Brazilian city (Campinas – SP) following some parameters. Method: Evaluative and participative research, mainly qualitative. Two groups were defined by cluster technique: one group with a higher degree of innovative strategies and another with lower, and then compared. Resultados: The matrix support was observed as a powerful tool to define fluxes, to qualify the teams, to promote joint care. Even thought, the communitarian health agent has a strategic role to identify potential offers and has a closer contact with the population; practices of health promotion are not implemented. When such innovative strategies take the professionals outside the Health Units, the users recognize the spaces and new interventions are created, apart from the traditional model of complain and conduct.
