Introduction: In the face of advanced oncological disease in palliative care at home, caregivers are mostly family members who are part of the informal system. The lack of guidance and social support exposes them to stress and overload that can affect their health, well-being, quality of life, and contribute to failures in care. Objective: To understand the care networks around the main caregiver in the context of home palliative care and describe the implications of the availability of these networks on the health care of this caregiver. Method: Descriptive and qualitative study, developed at a national reference institute in oncology, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Eighteen informal caregivers of patients with advanced cancer hospitalized in the specialized palliative care clinical ward were interviewed. Ethical approval was obtained. Results: Three categories emerged: Formal support network; Informal support network; and overload of the main caregiver. Conclusions: The qualitative approach was fundamental for understanding that family members present their own demands in the care process. This study contributes to discussions regarding the role of nursing in promoting the transversalization of care to caregivers.

REDE DE CUIDADO FORMAL E INFORMAL DO FAMILIAR QUE CUIDA DO PACIENTE EM CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS ONCOLÓGICOS NO DOMICÍLIO
Abstract(resumo):
Introdução: Diante da doença oncológica avançada em cuidados paliativos no domicílio, os cuidadores são majoritariamente familiares que fazem parte do sistema informal. A falta de orientação e suporte social expõem ao estresse e sobrecarga que podem afetar sua saúde, bem estar, qualidade de vida, e contribuir para falhas no cuidado. Objetivos: Conhecer as redes de cuidado em torno do cuidador principal no contexto dos cuidados paliativos domiciliares e descrever as implicações da disponibilidade dessas redes na atenção à saúde desse cuidador. Método: Estudo descritivo e qualitativo, desenvolvido em Instituto referência nacional em oncologia no Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Foram entrevistados dezoito cuidadores informais de pacientes com câncer avançado hospitalizados na enfermaria clínica de cuidados paliativos especializados. Obteve-se aprovação ética. Resultados: Emergiram três categorias: Rede de apoio formal; Rede de apoio informal; e Sobrecarga do cuidador principal. Conclusões: A abordagem qualitativa foi fundamental para a compreensão de que o familiar apresenta suas próprias demandas frente ao processo de cuidado. Este estudo contribui para discussões referentes ao papel da enfermagem na promoção da transversalização do cuidado ao cuidador.
