Abstract:

The half term of the last century had attended to the appearance of organizations that reflected the civil society mobilization for an effective participation in the public and social questions. Soon, these organizations, called no governmental (NGO), established partnership with public and private sectors to develop actions in different areas such as health. Based in a literature review, the goal of this paper was to be aware of the scientific background knowledge about the NGO participation in the area of children health and, with the identification and classification of the activities, define if they are in agreement with the agenda of the field.
The analysis of articles considered the origin of the authors, the periodical, the objectives, the origin of the NGO and the provenience of the grants to the projects develop by the NGO. It was observed a difference of activities when it was considered the development of the region where the NGO works. Topics most discussed were partnership between governmental organizations and NGO, sustentability of the projects and impact of the interventions in the communities. It was concluded that the scientific knowledge about the performance of NGO are only in the beginning and that the impact of the actions of NGO in the children health is a knowledge field to be explored.
