Abstract:

Noncommunicable Diseases are an important public health issue in Brasil and worldwide. This study aimed to analyze the scientific production published by Ciência & Saúde Coletiva journal in order to shed light on its contribution for the disclosure of scientific knowledge and the debate regarding the Noncommunicable Diseases. A bibliometric study on the publications1996 to 2019 related to noncommunicable diseases was carried out. A total of 458 documents that met the elegibility criteria were ed. It was verified an increasing trend in the number of publications per year at some points coincident with some political and institutional milestones in Brasil. Quantitative research papers stood out such as studies on risk and protection factors. Public educational and research institutions led the publishing and the financing of the studies. Authors that published the most are predominantly female. The journal has been reflecting the magnitude of the theme and its prioritization on the public agenda by promoting the debate and providing scientific disclosure regarding noncommunicable diseases.
