Abstract:

The existence of barriers in scheduled demand services results in a high rate of absenteeism. The objective of this manuscript is to present the main characteristics of the Online Scheduling System of the e-SUS PHC strategy in Brazil. The Online Scheduling System was developed by the Bridge Laboratory of the Federal University of Santa Catarina, which also developed the Electronic Citizens’ Record (PEC e-SUS APS), and allows the scheduling of appointments through the Connect SUS Citizen application. The PEC e-SUS APS has, among others, the professional\'s agenda module, appointments and cancellations are made, allowing the viewing of their schedules and availability. Although the use of online scheduling systems is able to provide benefits, unfortunately, they have been little explored in PHC. The main reasons are related to the lack of information and training of professionals about the system and the acts in the services provided by the PHC health standards. In order to ensure greater adoption and use of the Online Scheduling System, it is necessary to expand the dissemination of the system in order to establish it in the routine of services as an instrument to facilitate access to PHC.
