Abstract:

Objective: Verify the prevalence of impacts in quality of life produced by oral health conditions in a public employees’ sample and possible association with sociodemographic variables, dental services’ utilization, dental pain, prosthesis need. Method: This cross sectional study assessed a random sample of 286 public employees. Data was collected using four questionnaires including Oral Health Impact Profile. The association between variables was measured by Fisher Exact Test; Odds-Ratio verified the strength of association between exposition and impact. Logistic regression models were adjusted for each dimension. Results: Ninety three individuals (32,5%) declared impacts. Most impact prediction was associated to age, socioeconomic status, instruction, dental services‘ use, prosthesis need and dental pain. Conclusion: A great number of subjects declared impacts in quality of life related to oral conditions.
