Abstract:
With increasing life expectancy, there are increasing numbers of elderly. Families unstructured activity for caring for the elderly, leading to these institutionalized. Noting an increase in demand for ILPS for seniors, but epidemiological data are scarce on oral health. Objective: To assess oral health status of elderly residents in ILPS, São Gonçalo (RJ), being raised to dental health, oral hygiene, periodontal use, type, hygiene, adequacy and need for dental prosthesis and dental treatment needs. Methods: Quantitative survey with 58 males and females, and functionally dependent or independent. Collection of data was consulting medical records, interview and clinical examination. Results: The age range was cut from 59 years, 10 aged between 59-69, 21 between 70-79, also number of 80-89 years and 06 from 90. Marital status, an elderly married, 22 single, 05 divorced and 28 widowed. DMFT total of 30.37, predominantly lost tooth with 1707, women having fewer decayed teeth (ten). Only 02 subjects had good hygiene, good 25, 17 and 14 regular bad. This tooth mobility in 06 elderly patients, 52 did not. 32 had dentures, not 26, with women more frequently use. Upper arch, 31 subjects took Denture, Partial Denture 01 and 26 were not using any kind. Lower jaw, 16 subjects took Denture, Partial Denture 02. There was insignificant number of other types of dental prostheses. 49 elderly lacked dental care, and women (31) who needed them most, being in greater number. Conclusion: The ILPS require monitoring of public bodies, and claiming priority dental professionals on their teams. It should encourage academic activities in these institutions are fertile places for students from undergraduate and graduate levels.
CONDIÇÕES DE SAÚDE BUCAL DE IDOSOS DA INSTITUIÇÃO DE LONGA PERMANÊNCIA LAR SAMARITANO NO MUNICÍPIO DE SÃO GONÇALO-RJ
Abstract(resumo):
Com o aumento da expectativa de vida, há aumento do número de idosos. As famílias não estruturadas para atividade de cuidar de idosos leva a institucionalização destes. Observa-se aumento na demanda por ILPs para idosos, mas são escassos dados epidemiológicos sobre saúde bucal. Objetivo: avaliar condições de saúde bucal de idosos residentes em ILPs, São Gonçalo (RJ), sendo levantado condição dentária, higiene bucal, periodontal, uso, tipo, higienização, adequação e necessidade de prótese dentárias e necessidade de tratamento dentário. Método: Pesquisa quantitativa com 58 indivíduos do sexo masculino e feminino, funcionalmente dependentes e/ou independentes. Coleta de dados através consulta prontuário, entrevista e exame clínico bucal. Resultados: Faixa etária, teve como corte a partir de 59 anos, 10 idosos entre 59–69, 21 entre 70-79, igualmente número de 80-89 anos e 06 a partir de 90 anos. Estado civil, um idoso casado, 22 solteiros, 05 divorciados e 28 viúvos. CPO-D total de 30,37, predominando dente perdido com 1.707, tendo as mulheres menor número de dentes cariados (dez). Apenas 02 idosos apresentavam higienização ótima, 25 boa , 17 regular e 14 péssima. Mobilidade dental presente em 06 idosos, 52 não apresentavam. 32 possuíam prótese dentária, 26 não, tendo as mulheres maior freqüência de uso. Arcada superior, 31 idosos usavam Prótese Total, 01 Prótese Parcial Removível e 26 não usavam nenhum tipo. Arcada inferior, 16 idosos usavam Prótese Total, 02 Prótese Parcial Removível. Houve número inexpressivo de outros tipos de próteses dentárias. 49 idosos careciam tratamento dentário, sendo as mulheres (31) quem mais necessitavam, por ser em número maior. Conclusão: As ILPs necessitam de fiscalização dos órgãos públicos, priorizando e reinvidicando profissionais de odontologia em suas equipes. Deve-se estimular atividades acadêmicas nestas instituições sendo locais férteis para o aluno da graduação e pós- graduação.
