1464/2011 - ORAL HEALTH IN FAMILY HEALTH STRATEGY AT A REGIONAL MANAGER TERRITORY OF THE STATE OF PIAUI SAÚDE BUCAL NA ESTRATÉGIA SAÚDE DA FAMÍLIA EM UM COLEGIADO GESTOR REGIONAL DO ESTADO DO PIAUÍ
Objective: The objective of this cross-sectional study was to assess the professional profile of the dentists who are part of the Family Health Strategy (FHS) team in municipalities of a region of Piauí (Brazil) in order to try to explain the reasons why those dentists take some primary health care actions. Methods: The study covered the nineteen municipalities of the region. The sample consisted of 111 dentists and data collected was carried out from August to December 2008 using a form. An Excel database was created for the statistical analysis. Results: The dentists were predominantly female, aged 20-39 years, and with one to five years of professional experience. Most of them are specialists in a clinical field of dentistry and do domiciliary care visits. However, these visits are often in the absence of the health team and in low frequency. The dentists also rarely take part in meetings with the health team. Conclusion: The results indicate that the problems that were found are likely to be the same of other regions of the country. The lack of interdisciplinary professional approach is an issue to address properly when examining the role of the dentist and their unquestionable participation on the family health strategy.

SAÚDE BUCAL NA ESTRATÉGIA SAÚDE DA FAMÍLIA EM UM COLEGIADO GESTOR REGIONAL DO ESTADO DO PIAUÍ
Abstract(resumo):
Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo transversal foi avaliar o perfil dos cirurgiões-dentistas (CD) que trabalham na Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF) e a partir deste, refletir sobre aspectos do desenvolvimento das ações odontológicas na atenção primária em saúde, de municípios de um colegiado do processo de regionalização sanitária do estado do Piauí, Brasil. Métodos: O estudo abrangeu os dezenove municípios do referido colegiado. No período de agosto a dezembro de 2008, foram aplicados questionários a 111 CD, que aceitaram participar do estudo e trabalhavam no respectivo território. Os dados foram transferidos para o programa Excel, tabulados e analisados. Resultados: Os CDs avaliados foram predominantemente do gênero feminino, com idade entre 20-39 anos, tempo de formado entre um a cinco anos. Eles possuem, em sua maioria, curso de especialização em área clínica. A maioria faz visitas domiciliares, mas sem a presença da equipe, com baixa periodicidade e raramente reúne-se com a equipe. Conclusão: Os resultados apontam problemas que provavelmente são encontrados em outras realidades do território nacional. A tendência do CD a não interdisciplinaridade é questão ainda em aberto, quando examinado o papel da odontologia e sua potencialmente inquestionável participação na estratégia saúde da família.
