Abstract:

The implementation of the Oral Health Policy in Brazil in the period 2018-2021 was analyzed, through institutional actions, implementation of public services, results achieved, and federal funding. Monitoring study, documentary analysis and secondary data, obtainedinstitutional websites, government information systems, and news published by dental entities. The analysis pointed out that all monitored outcome indicators presented an expressive reduction in values between 2020-2021, with worsening in the decreasing performance since 2018, such as the coverage of the first dental consultation and collective action of supervised tooth brushing, which reached 1.8% and 0.02 in 2021, respectively. A drop in federal funding is observed in the years 2018-2019 (8.45%), with growth in 2020 (59.53%) and a further decrease in 2021 (5.18%). The period analyzed was marked by economic and political crises, aggravated by the health crisis, resultingthe Covid-19 pandemic. This context influenced the functioning of health services in Brazil. In the particular case of oral health, there was a progressive and sharp reduction in results, even though the implementation of basic and specialized care services remained stable.
