Abstract:

ABSTRACT Introduction: In the field of health, the frequent use of the term mental health is noticiable. It is used in legislations, public policies, manuals, means of communication, as well as designating health services. This recurrence raises questions about this concept. Therefore, the aim is to analyze itthe understanding of its theoretical models, showed by the cut of the scientific production. Methodology: It was used the evolutionary model of Concept Analysis developed by Rodgers. The data collection was done in articles available in the Scopus database and Web of Science, with the descriptor \"Mental Health\". Articles published between 2013 and 2017, written in Portuguese and English, whose country of origin was Brazil, were included, with the highest Impact Factor. The Duplicate and systematic reviews were excluded. Results: Data were collected based on repeated patterns, in the following categories: a) context; b) substitute terms; c) attributes; d) antecedents and consequents; e) implications and hypotheses. Discussion: It was realized that mental health is a cross-cutting theme and is influenced by many knowledge areas. Final considerations: Mental health is related to a way of understanding health and mental illnessthe paradigms of psychiatry and psychiatric reform.
