Abstract:

This is a cross-sectional study that aimed to estimate the prevalence and factors associated with violence against rural women and describe the positive cases according to authorship, location and frequency, by using datathe National Health Survey (2019). Crude and adjusted prevalence of violence against rural women across Brazil in the last 12 months were calculated according to demographic profile, support and health by means of Poisson Regression. Results: psychological violence was 18%, physical 4.4%, and sexual 1.5%. The main perpetrators were known people, most cases occurred at home and the episodes of ag-gression were recurrent. The highest prevalence: young adult women (24.2%), single and divorced (20% each), who had incomplete primary/middle/higher education (22% each), very poor (34%) and poor (30%) perceptions about their own health; and those with mental health problems (30%). After adjustment, those aged 30-39 years (PR:1.81) and 40-49 years (PR: 1.37), married (PR:0.65), with very poor (PR:2.43), poor (PR:1.95) and regular (PR:1.77) health status and with mental health problems (PR:1.65) remained in the model. The results point to the high prevalence of violence against rural women, reinforcing the need for public policies to address the problem.
