Abstract:

This article presents the trajectory of Primary Health Care (PHC) sanitizers in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, its challenges and confrontations. Startingthe question: how did sanitation workers express the meanings of their experience of working as a sanitizer in the pandemic scenario? The objective of this study was to analyze the experience of sanitation workers about working as a sanitizer during the Covid-19 pandemic. A qualitative approach was adopted, supported by everyday phenomenology and ethnomethodology, to explore the work of these actors in the context of PHC. The research was carried out in three Health Districts (DS) in the city of Salvador – Bahia and two Family Health Units (USF) were ed in each DS. Data production took place through in-depth semi-structured interviews, both remote and in-person. The results revealed the presence of the binomial invisibility versus essentiality in the daily lives of hygiene workers in PHC, that is, even though they are considered essential, they do not achieve visibility and professional and social recognition.
