Abstract:

To describe health insurance coverage in Brazil, according to National Health Survey and compare it with institutional data for the year of 2013. They used data from the National Health Research and the Beneficiaries Information System of the National Health Agency for the year 2013. We described the coverage of health background stratification for Brazil, urban / rural, Major Regions, Federative Units and capital, gender, age, educational level, position in the work force, race / color and health status. As results the proportion of people who reported having a health plan in Brazil was 27.9% (95%CI: 27.1-8.8). Significant differences with respect to schooling, being higher for those who reported having college degrees (68.8% 95%CI: 67.2-70.4) and those who reported being occupied (32.5% 95 %: from 31.5 to 33.5). Increasing health insurance coverage in the Brazilian population reflects the improvement of jobs and growth of the economy.
