Abstract - This paper presents the perspectives of the police force of the State of Rio de Janeiro on the subject of professional e human valorization. From the sociological theory of social roles and proposals for human resource management, the text has as parameter of analysis five qualitative indicators: dignity, achievement, recognition, security and promising prospect. From the methodological point of view, the study provides a contextual analysis of texts written by these agents at the end of a closed questionnaire on working, health and life conditions, realized in a serie of studies that began in 2003 to now, and came to be material for two books about these categories. The analisis contemplated the relevance given by the authors when they describe their situation, having as standard, the five mentioned indicators. The results of this study show that the two categoriesi have serious problems with professional valorization, especially in regard to wages, housing conditions, access to health services, institutional an psychological suport.Keywords: occupational health, professional valorization, psychological support, institutional support.
