Abstract:

The medicines acquisition by the brazilian public health service trough bidding process utilizing the lower price criteria is a worriness with respect to the quality of the products offered to population. The aim of the present work was to evaluate the quality of enalapril and propranolol tablets bought by the bidding process and supplied by the health public system in a city of Santa Catarina, Brasil, trough one year. It was analyzed the visual aspect, weight variation, friability, drug content and dissolution time. Within an amount of seven lots, five presented quality deviation. It was found irregularities in the visual aspect, weight variation, friability and drug dosage. The evaluation of the quality of medicines, beyond to ensure the quality of the medicines supplied by the health system, and its use with assurance by the patients, it is also a tool to qualify medicines supplier companies and an allowance in the improvement of bidding process. We suggest the implementation of a management system that includes the qualification of medicines supplier companies, improvement of the bidding process with clear specifications about the quality of the medicines bought, as so, monitoring quality composed with farmacovigilance actions.
