Abstract:

The goal of this article is to characterise the profile of access realized to services offered by PSF in area with important private subsystem coverage. The city chosen was Santo André in the state of São Paulo. The sample was drafted on the assumption that the possible use of the activities offered by the family health strategy is not uniform on the basis of this use was considered three population groups: residual, full and partial. To obtain samples for these groups was used sampling in two phases. Were interviewed 175 people, the registered population is composed of 0.5% of users with full profile, 31.0% partial and 68.5% residual. In the bivariate analysis statistically significant differences were observed between partial residual groups and in relation to age, income, employment, affiliation to private subsystem and years of schooling. However, the ratios of prevalence, when estimated by Poisson multiple model indicate that the factors that influence the access profile of the USF activities are private subsystem membership and income. Draws attention to several services do not reach more than 20% of the registered population. Despite the immense potential of innovative proposals incorporated by the PSF, this study shows that there is a selective use of PSF‘s activities by the registered population, strongly influenced by affiliation to private subsystem and income.
