It aims to analyze the social representations of the aggressive behavior of the manthe perspective of the battered woman. This is a qualitative and representational study performed with twenty women who were under the protection of the Reference Center in Natal/RN, using free narrative as data collection instrument. In order to analyze textual data, we used the software ALCESTE 2010. We have developed three thematic categories: i) The imprisonment of the woman; ii) The violence and its meanings; iii) The rupture of the violent cycle. From the perspective of the battered woman, the social representations of the aggressive behavior of the man are anchored in the social roles of the man in the family and in society. Thus, it configures a dominant model of masculinity that reinforces, in turn, familiar constructions and repetitions of roles.

Abstract(resumo):
Objetiva-se analisar as representações sociais do comportamento agressivo do homem sob a ótica da mulher agredida. Trata-se de um estudo de natureza qualitativa e representacional realizado com vinte mulheres que estavam sob proteção do Centro de Referência de Natal/RN, tendo como instrumento de coleta de dados a narrativa livre. Para análise dos dados textuais, optou-se pelo uso do software ALCESTE 2010. Elaboraram-se três categorias de temáticas: i) O aprisionamento da mulher; ii) A violência e suas significações; iii) A ruptura do ciclo violento. As representações sociais do comportamento agressivo do homem sob a ótica da mulher agredida estão ancoradas nos papéis sociais do homem na família e na sociedade. Assim, configura-se um modelo de masculinidade dominante que reforça, de um lado, construções familiares e repetições de papéis.
