Abstract:

The objective of the study was to evaluate the risk of HIV infection in men who have sex with men (MSM) by developing an index that considers sex partner networks..The characteristics used for calculating the index were age, race/color, school, relationship type, condom use in receptive and ive relationships (with regular or casual partner), self-perception of the possibility of HIV infection, sexually transmitted infections, in addition to the results of rapid HIV testing. Dataan egocentric network survey in MSM with cross-sectional design, conducted in Rio de Janeiro between 2014 and 2015. Structured questionnaire and HIV test were collected. The initial research volunteer is called ego, each partner is alter, and each pair of people in a relationship is the dyad. Multiple logistic regression was used to define the coefficients of the equations for the elaboration of the index. The index ranged0 to 1, the closer to 1 the greater the risk of HIV infection. The prevalence of HIV among egos was 13.9%. The mean egos index with HIV test reagent was 57% higher than non-reagent, same profile was observed in the values of the index of the dyads. The index allowed the incorporation ofnetwork data through the dyadsand contributed to the identification of individuals with a greater chance of acquiring HIV.
