Abstract:

During the decade of 1980 and 1990 and the early 2000 emerged and developed in most Latinamericans countries various proposals and actions in intercultural health. This tryed to articulate health sector and biomedicine with traditional medicine, by means of ‘parallel’ relationships; that is, trying to reduce or eliminate exclusion relations, subordination and hegemony subalternity beteween them. This proposals had two basic objectives:1)to contribute to the culture rehabilitation of ethnic groups showing effectiveness of traditional medicine, and 2) to improve relations between biomedical staff/indigenous patient. In this paper are analyzed the causes which led to limited impact or even failure of proposals and actions of intercultural health.
