Abstract:

Descriptive and exploratory bibliometric study that analyzed the scientific production of the three main Brazilian journals in Public Health: Cadernos de Saúde Pública (CSP), Revista de Saúde Pública (RSP), and Ciência & Saúde Coletiva (CSC), from 2001 to 2024. Data were obtained from the PubMed database in February 2025 and processed using VOSviewer software (v.1.6.16), with manual verification to minimize duplications. Analyses considered the frequency of MeSH descriptors indexed in the records to identify methodological and thematic patterns. A continuous increase in production was observed, with CSP leading, RSP remaining stable, and CSC showing strong expansion. Among methodological descriptors, the most frequent were Cross-Sectional Studies (43,463 occurrences; 88.1%), Surveys and Questionnaires (20,530; 70.2%), and Epidemiologic Methods (5,123; 43.0%), followed by Qualitative Research (4,231; 35.5%) and Logistic Models (2,548; 21.4%). Thematic descriptors highlighted Pregnancy (20.2%), Primary Health Care (12.8%), Health Services Accessibility (12.1%), Delivery of Health Care (9.3%), and COVID-19 (7.6%). The journals play a central role in disseminating Public Health knowledge, reflecting the continuity of structural themes and the incorporation of emerging agendas.
