Abstract:

Sex workers become increasingly vulnerable economically because of restrictive measures in place to respond to the coronavirus pandemic. In this sense, the objective of this study is to analyze the content of websites and prostitution advertisements on measures related to the pandemic by COVID-19. It is a description of the flow of visits and content analysis of communications on websites that advertise commercial sex transactions. We calculated the percentage change in the number of visits for three periods02/2019 to 04/2020. Later, we extracted ads with the terms \"corona\", \"pandemic\" and \"quarantine\" on websites that offer search engines. We used the Bardin method for content analysis. There was an increase in the number of visits to prostitution websites between 2019 and 2020, followed by a decrease with the advent of the coronavirus pandemic crisis. With regard to the protection measures during the pandemic, health recommendations and encouragement of virtual sex stand out. Among 1,991,014 advertisements, 0.51% mention the crisis by COVID-19 regarding noncompliance with social distance, protection measures and online sex offer.
