Abstract:

This essay thinks about sexual practices and prevention in the contexts of the Aids and Covid-19 pandemics. It analyzes data collected as part of an ethnographic research on vulnerability and HIV prevention among men who have sex with men, in the Metropolitan Region of Recife. The results show that body stylizations, nuanced by affective bonds with the partners, produce emotions which mediate the unprotected sex. It signals the need to incorporate these communicational dimensions in informational materials, in order to make them more effective.
